Future Bistro
About This Spot
Stepping into Future Bistro, nestled on bustling Bloor Street West, you find yourself in a spacious, unpretentious neighborhood spot where the pace feels measured yet welcoming. The hum of soft background music blends with the quiet murmur of conversation, setting a tone that’s neither rushed nor overly polished — a subtle invitation to settle in, take a breath, and savor the moment.
This is a place where the everyday rituals of breakfast and brunch unfold naturally, whether you’re tucked away with a book, catching up with friends, or simply watching the city amble by through the windows. The vibe is familiar and easy, with enough gentle movement around to keep things lively without feeling crowded.
At Future Bistro, food arrives with a sense of honest comfort. The menu’s heart lies in generous, thoughtful dishes that nod to classic diner fare but carry their own distinctive twist, from flavorful schnitzel and hearty pierogies to lush, creamy cheesecakes that linger just right after a meal. The pastries here hint at a quiet bakery craft, inviting you to linger longer over coffee — which pleasantly surprises with its rich, freshly brewed flavors that aren’t shouted about but quietly earn their place at the table.
The bistro also carries the easygoing spirit through its casual counter service and sprawling interior, designed more for comfort than chic décor. It’s the kind of spot where familiarity grows over visits: where friendly faces serve up plates with a down-to-earth warmth and the pace encourages both work and leisurely moments.
On a sunny day, the patio spills out an extra layer of calm, a welcome nook to enjoy laid-back drinks from their approachable selection of beers and cocktails. Here, even the simplest plate feels like part of a quietly satisfying ritual — a pause to enjoy good food, the company you choose, and the rhythm of local life around you.

I went there just after they opened at 9am. I ordered a cup of drip coffee (only $2.25) that you can choose from dark, medium or hazelnut flavor. I do recommend flavor coffee. It was freshly brewed, so it was quite good:) It seems no one talks about coffee, so I didn’t expect it(sorry). It was surprisingly better than I thought. I would come back to try breakfast plate and a slice of cheese cake next time!

Overall Future Bistro is a great spot if you’re looking to get some work done, read, or just relax with a couple of friends. The vibe is spot on, light background music, a comfortable atmosphere, and usually enough people around to enjoy some casual people-watching without it feeling crowded. The food is solid for the price, which typically sits around $15–$20. Portions are generous, and after eating here 3–4 times, I’ve never had any complaints. The staff are friendly enough polite and helpful. They’ll gently remind you about your order if needed, but they don’t go out of their way to be overly chatty, which honestly fits the relaxed vibe of the place well. Overall, a dependable, chill spot that’s easy to come back to.

Decided to go for dinner after work. Patio is nice and staff is friendly but I got a bit of a cafeteria feel. Great select of food and drink. After ordering and grabbing my seat on the patio, I had to go back in when they came out and called my name to get my food. After paying at the counter, the food should at least be brought to the table if they are already coming out to call your name.. Other than that a great spot.

The place is very busy. But they work well to attend everybody. Although the huge menu, the line moves fast, and they prepare the dishes in a minute. The atmosphere is nothing attractive, no decoration, old-fashioned menu displays, and the wall paint gives us the appearance of dirty. I recommend it even though, as it has a very good price, and the food is good.

Diner style food place with a lot of space inside. They have a bakery in there too with some goodies I'll come back to! The schnitzel was so yummy and flavorful so I enjoyed it a lot. The pancakes use a different batter (maybe whole wheat or buckwheat?) that made it heavy and a little dense. It was still quite yummy but not the traditional pancakes you'd expect. Totally worth a try! Reasonably priced, too.

Future Bistró is such a cozy spot. The food is fresh and flavourful, the coffee is great, and the service is always warm and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, eat well, and actually enjoy the atmosphere. Definitely one of my go-to cafés in the area.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! Perhaps in the future, I'll be coming back to this bistro, where the casual self-service spot serves up deliciously simple comfort food including schnitzels and cheesecakes. It's a complete meal featuring a chicken breast, smashed thin and coated in breadcrumbs, fried to a crispy delight. I opted for the refreshing, tangy coleslaw and a healthy green salad, for health.
